Kim Rodriguez

President, CEO & Co-Founder

Kim got started in the medical device industry after considering going to med school. She loved the clinical experience of helping patients but realized she could also improve healthcare working for the business side of healthcare.

Prior to Acessa Health, she was the president & CEO of Halt Medical. She was also the senior vice president of the Vascular Intervention business unit at Spectranetics, a publicly-traded cardiovascular company acquired by Royal Philips for $2.2B. Kim’s experience spans global senior leadership roles in sales, marketing, therapy development and general business management at Johnson & Johnson, Blockade Medical acquired by Balt International, Concentric Medical acquired by Stryker Neurovascular, Guidant Corporation acquired by Abbott Vascular and Microvena acquired by ev3.

Over the course of a 20+ year career in cardiology, radiology, vascular surgery, neurology and women’s health, Kim has been involved in the commercialization of dozens of innovative medtech technologies and M&A transactions.

Kim received her Executive MBA at the University of Southern California Marshall School of Business and B.S. in Management from Pepperdine University.

Kim’s proudest moments in her career so far have been identifying great talent and seeing their careers soar. She’s worked with some of the best teams in the business, including the team at Acessa Health, and loves watching what these teams can accomplish together.

Jeremy McFadden

Chief Financial Officer

Jeremy joined Acessa Health for the opportunity work with an amazing team to bring an innovative medical technology to market in a start-up environment. He has over two decades of finance, accounting and operations experience, primarily in medical device and healthcare IT. Prior to Acessa Health, Jeremy served as CFO of Halt Medical and also as head of finance for the Philips Healthcare Informatics business. He has a public accounting background and received his CPA while working for Deloitte.

Jeremy cheers for the BYU Cougars and received his B.S. and M.S. degrees in financial accounting at the Brigham Young University Marriott School of Management.

In his free time, Jeremy enjoys spending time with family and competing in a least one triathlon each year. In 2019, Jeremy had a blast in the CapTex triathlon, held in Austin, TX racing the International distance. Of the three triathlon disciplines, he enjoys swimming the most.

Alfred Macdaniel

Chief Strategy Officer & General Counsel

Alfred joined the Acessa Health team because he has a young daughter and wanted to work with an exceptional team making a fundamental difference in the way women are treated by the healthcare system.

Previously he served as the Chief Financial Officer, Chief Compliance Officer and General Counsel of TVA Medical, a VC-backed company developing minimally invasive therapies for end-stage renal disease that was acquired by Becton Dickinson & Company. Alfred was also Chief Financial Officer and General Counsel of Santé Ventures, a specialized healthcare and life sciences investment firm with over a quarter of billion dollars in capital under management during his tenure. In addition to his direct venture capital firm and portfolio company experience, Alfred practiced as a corporate and securities attorney at AM Law 100 law firms for several years. He was also a business analyst for a publicly traded industrial company and a staff auditor for Arthur Andersen.

He holds a B.A., B.B.A. and a Doctor of Jurisprudence from the University of Texas at Austin. Alfred has been a certified public accountant in Texas since 1998 and licensed to practice law in Texas since 2002.

Alfred has been blessed by the opportunity to travel to five of the seven continents and appreciates how the multitude of cultures, lifestyles and beliefs demonstrate how much we have in common with all of the inhabitants of our planet. He believes we each have the ability to use our commonalities to build bridges instead of walls.

Brian Bergeron

Chief Operating Officer

Brian joined Acessa Health because he believes in the company’s mission to empower women and give them more fibroid treatment options.

During his 25-year professional and consulting career, Brian specialized in executing launch strategies for new medical technologies, contributing as a senior advisor to product leadership teams as well as an “on the ground” launch manager. During the latter part of his career, he became deeply involved in leading the development and commercialization of multiple diagnostic and implantable technologies.

Brian has held senior leadership positions at Fortune 500 companies such as Boston Scientific, Abbott Laboratories, and founded smaller start-up companies such as ClearCam, LLC and Auspine, LLC. Through his engineering efforts, Brian has accumulating over twenty patents and many more patents pending.

Brian attended Worcester Polytechnic Institute (WPI) in Massachusetts and graduated with honors with a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering with biomedical interests. He also earned his master’s degree in engineering management from the University of Texas at Austin. He is a contributor to medical device journals, an industry conference podium presenter, and an invited lecturer to engineering colleges and universities.

In addition to his passion for the medical device industry, he loves to travel, snowboard and laugh with his friends and family.

Carolyn Amato

Senior Vice President of Commercial

Carolyn has built a career helping innovative medical technologies to reach communities in need. She joined Acessa Health to work on behalf of women who want access to a new minimally invasive option for uterine fibroid treatment.

Carolyn’s 18 years of experience with Boston Scientific spanned multiple divisions of the company and engaged the largest health systems in the United States. After building a market development organization to protect patients from Sudden Cardiac Arrest, she led a national team that negotiated product and service contracts generating $1B annual revenue. Prior to her most recent work speeding patient access to new neuroscience technology, Carolyn held roles of increasing responsibility in healthcare sales and marketing for Guidant Corporation and Merck & Company.

Carolyn earned a Bachelor of Science from University of Scranton and an MBA from the Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern University.

When not working through problems with a well-organized spreadsheet, Carolyn’s tools of the trade are mixing bowls and stacks of fancy ingredients. She says there is magic in homemade chocolate chip cookies, and she’ll go toe-to-toe with anyone on the crispy vs. chewy debate.

Larry Anderson

Vice President of Sales

Larry believes in educating women that there are, and they deserve, more options for fibroid treatment. To achieve this, he emphasizes the importance of working with highly-skilled physicians who believe in the Acessa Health mission and vision.

Larry has 18 years of sales experience in the medical device industry, predominately dedicated to women’s health. Prior to joining Acessa Health, he was the National Sales Director at Halt Medical. Prior to Halt, he spent time as the Kaiser Vertical Manager and District Sales Manager for Hologic. Larry was one of the first commercial hires at Interlace Medical where his success directly contributed to the acquisition by Hologic. Larry spent almost 10 years with Ethicon Women’s Health and Urology division and achieved many sales related awards.

He is a 1997 graduate of the United States Military Academy at West Point with a B.S. in systems engineering.

One of Larry’s passions is coaching youth football. He defended his “Fastest Dad” in Pittsburgh title three years in a row.

Shonu Gandhi

Vice President of Market Access & Strategy

Shonu brings to Acessa ten years of experience partnering with health plans, employers and healthcare providers to develop and implement strategies to improve patient outcomes while reducing healthcare costs. Prior to Acessa, Shonu served as the leader of the inaugural business development team at the Dell Medical School at the University of Texas at Austin. There, she was responsible for building multiple critical aspects of the emerging UT clinical practice, including forging the organization’s relationships with health plans, large employers and clinical partners to advance UT’s commitment to value based care. Before UT, Shonu was an associate principal at McKinsey & Company, serving as a co-leader of the risk and commercial service lines. At McKinsey, she spent five years advising health plans and employers on product design and pricing, payer/provider collaboration and consumer and provider friendly cost containment strategies. Before consulting, Shonu managed political campaigns and worked in local government for the DeStefano Administration in New Haven, Connecticut.

Shonu received her J.D. from Harvard Law School and B.A. in History and Ethnicity, Race and Migration from Yale University, both magna cum laude.

Elaine Horton

Director of Marketing

Elaine joined Acessa Health because she wants to change the status quo in health care. Acessa Health stands out in the health care vertical because it walks the walk vs. simply talking the talk. She also can’t help but love that the company is centered on women’s health and run by a woman CEO.

Prior to Acessa she worked in academic medicine at the newly formed Dell Medical School at The University of Texas at Austin on the inaugural Business Development team; helping to create unique care delivery models at UT Health Austin clinical practices and build payer relationships for value-based care contracting negotiations. In addition, Elaine worked at Deloitte Strategic and Operations Consulting with large helathcare clients across many projects including, medical device M&A, hospital transformation and provider growth strategy. She has spent time in investment banking at Scotia Bank and was involved in the early stages of the startup company Trendkite, which was later acquired by Cision for $225M.

She graduated magna cum laude from The University of Texas at Austin from the Business Honors program with degrees in finance and economics.

Elaine rode her bike 4,500 miles from Texas to Alaska in one summer, while raising funds for cancer research to honor her husband – a childhood cancer survivor. She now focuses on running marathons. As a native Texan, coach’s wife and boy mom, she is always looking forward to Friday night lights.

Tyler Holcomb

Director of Sales

Tyler joined Acessa Health because he wanted to change the fact that many women suffering with uterine fibroids are still only offered a hysterectomy. One of the most important aspects of his job is to make sure physicians are giving women all their fibroid treatment options.

Tyler has more than two decades of medical device sales and marketing experience with half in women’s health, where he successfully introduced more than five new major platform technologies to the market. Prior to joining Acessa Health, Tyler was director of global marketing at Halt Medical. He was one of the first commercial hires at Interlace Medical, Inc. where his success directly contributed to the acquisition by Hologic. In addition, Tyler held sales and management positions at Boston Scientific and Johnson & Johnson.

Tyler received his B.A. in marketing from the University of Iowa where he attended on a full athletic scholarship. While there, he was captain of the men’s swim team, a four time Big Ten championship finalist and Olympic trial qualifier.

Tyler’s talents extend beyond the medical device industry. For the past 15 years, Tyler has been the lead singer for three of Chicago’s most popular 80’s cover bands (Journey, Bon Jovi, Boston). He also chased a career as a recording artist/singer songwriter and got a publishing deal in Nashville that included one of the first digital distribution deals in the country.
